"Yoga is a Technology..."

In yoga class at Kripalu the other week, Devadas said something like this: "Yoga is a technology for connecting and discovering and ultimately experiencing that which is beyond words and poses....".  This really spoke to 'me':  The me who teaches and advocates for technology in the classroom as a tool for tapping into potentially transformative learning but also the Universal "me" that I come to know better every time I come to the mat- The "me" that feels what's right; the me that eventually moves itself and intuits, independent of the mind, the me that is quiet awareness only.

Yes, the asanas are what are done but they are not the point. They, along with a sensible Vinyasa are a technology to assist in connecting mind/body/spirit.

It was a potent and definitively secular way of describing yoga practice and one that I appreciated.
